Baton Twirling involves dance, coordination, flexibility and strength. It is a sport enjoyed by thousands across Canada and around the world. Etobicoke Spectrum has been in existence for over 40 years.
For many years, the club was under the Direction of Jennifer Meron, now of Spectrum North Baton Club in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. With the new millennium, comes new faces including the current Club Director Sheryl Baraniuk (formerly Elias) and coaches Megan Veaudry, Andrea Amaral and Marisa Nifo.
The athletes not only work hard throughout the year preparing for competition, but also take part in many fun shows and activities all year long. The girls perform in Santa Claus Parades and do community shows. They can be seen in the Lakeshore and Weston Santa Claus Parades every year. At the competitive level, Etobicoke Spectrum athletes have traveled across Canada to compete in several National Championships. The club has held many dance twirl, CBTF team, Parade Corps and Twirl Corps titles and several Grand National appearances. This year they traveled to Edmonton, Alberta for the 2009 Canadian Championships.
